About Us

The Loving Paws Hiking Club started in July 2008 as a way for Loving Paws trainer Jennifer to socialize Casey, her leash-reactive dog, in a controlled and fun way. We've been hiking ever since!

Hikes are free for graduates and students of Loving Paws Dog Training in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

FAQs

Is it actual hiking?

Usually, no, it's more like walking, but Walking Club just doesn't sound as cool.

How far do you go?

We hike 2 to 2.5 miles depending on the location.

Do you hike in the winter?

Of course! We'll hike as long as the temperature is 17 or above. (Don't ask why 17 is the cutoff. No one remembers.) Please dress for the weather and use your own discretion on how to dress your dog. Some dogs need coats and boots, some don't need anything.

How often do you hike?

We hike every weekend and some weeknights depending on the weather and schedules.

Is there a fee to join?

Nope! It's free for Loving Paws graduates and students.

Can I still join if my dog is reactive to dogs and/or people?

Absolutely! All Loving Paws dogs are welcome! We only ask that you put a yellow ribbon on your dog's leash (Jennifer always has plenty) so everyone knows to give your dog space and to ask first before greeting your dog.

What does a yellow ribbon on a leash mean?

A yellow ribbon identifies dogs that are working on issues and need extra space. They can be fearful, recovering from an illness or reactive. Whatever the reason, when you see a yellow ribbon dog, please ask the owner before approaching.

How do I sign up?

We use a website called The Groups Place to schedule hikes. Since our group is only for Loving Paws students, our group is private. Please create a User ID on The Groups Place first and then fill out the form below.
