I am here to help!
Bringing over 25 years of diverse teaching experience to my role as an educator and leader in the field of virtual education, I have extensive experience working with students of all backgrounds and educational levels. After spending two decades in a traditional elementary classroom, I became one of the pioneering teachers in a local public virtual school. With extensive expertise in teaching collaborative classes and supporting students with a wide range of disabilities across grades K-6, I have also served as a coach for both teachers and parents, providing effective strategies for inclusive education.
In addition to my work with students, I am passionate about leveraging technology in the classroom. I help train fellow educators in the use of AI tools to enhance instructional practices. As a Parent Involvement Team leader, I actively foster community engagement and collaboration. In recognition of my contributions, I was honored as my school's 2024 Teacher of the Year.
I feel it is important for you to know more about me as you consider the decision to work with me, so here is a little more background that can give you a closer look!
I grew up in Newnan, Georgia, attending Coweta County Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduating from Newnan High School, I began college at Brewton-Parker College earning a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. While teaching I worked to earn my Masters in Elementary Education at Georgia State University and a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction at LaGrange College. I also have a Science Endorsement, Reading Endorsement, and Gifted Endorsement.
My favorite times of all are spending time with my family. My husband, daughter, and I are actively involved in our community and our church. This year my daughter begins her college experience!
Music has always been a staple in my life. I enjoy singing and playing piano. My expert instrument is the clarinet, though I haven't played that in years! I've also learned a little on guitar though I am still quite the beginner. While music has always been at the forefront, I also enjoy baking and cake decorating, quilting, reading, and am trying to develop a green thumb and an eye for landscaping.
I have several pets which currently include 3 cats and 2 dogs. While it is tempting, I have no intentions of adding any more to our household. The most pets we had at one time was a cat, 3 dogs, a bearded dragon, 2 leopard geckos, about 20 salt-water fish, and a guinea pig! While we loved all of them, it is nice to have fewer members of our zoo!
I offer two services. You may be in need of one or both. I can help you make this decision at our FREE initial consultation. Click the links below to learn about both services.
Academic coaching sessions are for the student where a focus is placed on executive functioning skills to help them know how to learn. As we use some of their academic areas to apply these skills, students will not only progress in their current subject, but they will be able to apply these skills to future learning and even daily tasks. See more detailed information on the "Academic Coaching" page.
Academic consulting sessions are a deep dive for the parents to help them know what questions to ask and how to better help their child in their academic environments. Go to the "Academic Consulting" page to find out more.
