Introduction

The story of Romeo and Juliet has been passed down through centuries. In the original story, written by Shakespeare, we are presented with two young lovers. Little do these two lovers know at first that they are family rivals. Via not only Romeo's friend group of Benvolio and Mercutio, but also Juliet's nurse, this rivalry soon became known. (Spoiler Alert) This family rivalry soon reached its peak with the death of Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, at the hands of Romeo. With their profound love for each other, the decision to leave the city and begin their own life separate from the drama. However, in the end their love was worth dying for, literally, causing the two to both die. What if the tragic fate of the two star-crossed lovers changed? What would happen if they lived?.....were in present times?....were homosexual? These are the perspectives that will be explored in the following stories.

The first story will take the ending of "tragic love" and turn it into one of happiness and having living characters. I personally disliked the ending of the original play. It was one I wished there had been better communication between the two as far as the gran plan to fake Juliet's death in order for them to be able to leave Verona. The second story will be inspired by modernizing the classic characters. My thoughts on such are placing Romeo and Juliet in today's society yet leaving all the unique characteristics to the story such as their age, social status, and their undying love for each other and see how things would go. The last story coming from the Shakespearean play would be the tale of two star-crossed homosexual lovers. (Click link below to help decide!) This story stems off my last as far as "modernizing" the play goes, but I will keep this story in current time and manipulate character reactions based on how they would be seen during this time period.

So here it is, do hope you enjoy!
