This Privacy Policy explains how Love Letter ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our iOS mobile application and accompanying Home Screen widgets (the "App"). We are committed to minimalism, both in our design and in our data practices. We only collect the data absolutely necessary to make the App function.
Because Love Letter prioritizes privacy and low-friction onboarding, we do not require your name, email address, or a password. We collect the following limited data:
User Identifiers:
An automatically generated Anonymous User ID used to securely authenticate you without personal credentials.
A 6-character Invite Code generated to link your App with your partner’s App.
An Apple Push Notification service (APNs) Device Token to deliver background widget updates and alerts.
A Local Device Identifier stored locally on your device (in an App Group shared container) to allow the main App and the widget to communicate smoothly.
User Content (Drawings):
Hand-drawn images created within the App's canvas, saved securely as standard image files (PNG).
Basic metadata associated with these drawings, including the Sender ID, Receiver ID, the image URL, and the timestamp of creation.
Pairing Data: A database record linking two Anonymous User IDs together to facilitate the delivery of drawings.
We use the collected information strictly to provide and maintain the App's core functionality:
To transmit your drawings to your paired partner's device and Home Screen widget.
To send push notifications alerting you or your partner of a new drawing.
To perform silent background updates so your Home Screen widget remains current.
We rely on secure third-party infrastructure to operate the App:
Supabase: We use Supabase for our backend infrastructure. It securely handles Anonymous Authentication, hosts the database (storing profiles, invite codes, pairing links, metadata, and APNs tokens), and provides the cloud storage bucket for your drawing files.
Apple Services: We use Apple’s Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver alerts and background widget updates.
Strictly Between Partners: Your user content (drawings) is entirely private and only accessible to you and the specific partner linked to your account via your Invite Code.
No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel), nor do we use the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework or Apple's IDFA. We do not track your behavior across other apps or websites.
No Advertising or Data Selling: Love Letter contains no advertising. We never sell, rent, or lease your personal data or user content to third parties, ad networks, or data brokers under any circumstances.
The App functions strictly within the following requested permission:
Push Notifications: Requested to alert you of new messages and to enable silent background updates for your widget.
Note: The App does not request, nor does it have access to, your Camera, Photo Library, Microphone, or Location Services.
Your drawings are stored securely in our cloud infrastructure to ensure they sync to your partner's device. You have the right to delete your data at any time. Unpairing from your partner severs the connection, and deleting the App removes local data. For full deletion of your Anonymous User ID and associated drawings from our active servers, you may contact us using the information below.
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
