Emily, Steve, and Ian at Burning Man 2019.

The Pink Spot crew with the Big Bunny.

Emily Nicolosi. Although my day job as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Utah, creating art is my true passion. I have been practicing art seriously since I began as an art major at the University of Vermont in 2005. The roots of my artistic practice are in the medium of painting, which I use as an avenue to reflect on natural spaces and the belongingness of humans therein. My paintings range from abstracted to photo-realistic landscapes. In 2018 I began exploring large-scale sculpture as an avenue for increasing access to art through interactive experience. Throughout all of my work I am focused on what it means to be human and to do so in relationship to a living and imperiled earth. The large-scale sculpture work that I do would not exist without the support of the core project crew, which includes Ian Nicolosi and Steve Wong.

Ian Nicolosi. A microscopist by day, Ian is a brilliant inventor with a strong background in building with a large variety of materials and methods. Ian is known for his epic work ethic and his fashion invention, bandanties.

Steve Wong. By trade, a web designer, Steve has an unparalleled knack for solving engineering problems and keeping our build on schedule. Steve is a solid source of support and an even keel, inspiring us with his awesome ideas and also reminding us when it's "good enough."

Ian, Steve, and Emily are supported by many volunteers, to whom they are indebted- including their dear Pink Spot family.
