As a school counselor, it is my mission to create a comprehensive program that enables all students to push themselves to reach their full potential. My school counseling guidance will adhere to the American School Counselor Association's National Model and will address the academic, career, and social/emotional developmental needs of all students. School counselors, in my opinion, must identify barriers to student success, advocating for and collaborating with other stakeholders to create the conditions necessary for all students to succeed. I strongly believe that this is best achieved with the involvement and maintenance of a collaborative partnership with students, parents, educators, administrators, and the community to provide a safe, positive environment where all students feel a sense of belonging and connection. I am committed to upholding the highest ethical and legal standards and to participate in professional development to stay current on school counseling best practices. One of the four American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model’s Themes is that of advocacy. It is my responsibility to advocate for educational equality and the academic success of all my students. I believe school counselors are the primary advocates within the school system and in the public.
Providing a safe, welcoming environment so students will return!
