This project explores themes of death, memory, and the traces people leave behind through the concept of Memento Mori.
Inspired by abandoned houses in my hometown in Eastern Poland, I work with found personal objects such as photographs, letters, books, and documents found in them. Using them as fragments of presence and emotional memory.
Through textiles, embroidery, print, and photography, I created poetic and reflective interpretations that exist between documentation and imagination.
The work focuses on atmosphere, absence, and the quiet mystery surrounding what remains after human presence fades.
My aim for the project, is to invite viewers to reflect on mortality, remembrance, and the fragile material evidence of human existence.

- King of spades and Queen of hearts designs
Designed based on a couple of misplaced play cards, that I found in one of the abandoned houses that I was visiting (The Martyniuk Family House).
Each card is curated from elements I found in this specific house ; family photographs, magazine pages, table cloth textile patterns as well as many other odd and unique things.
Each design has been digitally printed on to a heavy weight Killary Cotton/Linen mix fabric and then some samples were hand embellished with upcycled beads and sequin.

Based, curated and collaged, from various elements I found in one of the abandoned houses I visited (The Kukowski Family House).
Items, such as; home decorations, utensils and appliances, magazine pages and documents, as well as many other odd and unique things.
Each design is unique and has been digitally printed on to a mid weight Silk/Viscose mix fabric and then hand hemmed for a neat and clean look.

- Digital embroidery and screen print design
Design based on an abandoned photograph depicting a ballroom dance scene, from 60's or 70's Poland.
Photo then digitalised and enhanced using AI.
Additional generated dancing pairs later combined into the picture, creating a more interesting, layered effect.
The image was later transformed into a digital embroidery and screen print design.
The digital embroidery design was embroidered onto a light polyester chiffon fabric, which had the original photo printed on top of it, using the sublimation printing technique.
The screen print design was printed onto a deadstock mix of different fabrics; Some wetted and then printed on, for a smudged, bleeding ink like effect.

Design embroidered on top of a light silk organza fabric, using a recycled ivory and gold coloured embroidery thread.

- Screen print designs, inspired by various textures
Designs inspired by various textures, depicting decay, ruin, disintegration and abandonment.
Printed on top of an array of deadstock fabrics; Some wetted and then printed on, for a smudged, bleeding ink like effect. Others printed using the flock technique.
Many textures, were found in the abandoned houses I visited.
