Training Opportunities
The Loudoun County Office of Elections is proud to offer the only year-round Election Officer training program in Virginia. A list of classes including descriptions is below, organized by focus area. Please note that not all classes are offered at all times and some classes have prerequisites.
Schedules and sign-up information are periodically emailed to eligible Election Officers. Note that ALL Election Officers serving in an Election are required by Virginia State Code to attend a training class within the 30 days prior to each election.

Classes for Election Officers
EO100-Election Officer Election Training(Hands-on)
This class will cover the things you need to know to be an Election Officer for the next Election in Virginia and specifically Loudoun County.
Either EO100 or EO101 MUST be completed by every Normal Election Officer prior to each Election served
Offered within 30 days prior to each election, open to all Election Officers.
Approx. 3 hours
EO101 - Election Officer Election Training
This class will cover the things you need to know to be an election officer for the next election in Virginia and specifically Loudoun County.
Either EO100 or EO101 MUST be completed by every Normal election officer prior to each election served.
Offered within the 30 days prior to each election, open to all Election Officers.
Approx. 1.5 hours
EO102 - Checking In Voters
This class will cover how to verify a voter's identity and ensure that they get checked in to vote properly.
Offered periodically, open to all Election Officers.

Classes for Chief Election Officers and Assistant Chief Election Officers
CH100 - Chief Bootcamp
In-depth hands-on overview of the responsibilities of the Chief Election Officer in charge of the precinct. Geared towards new Chiefs who have agreed to step up and take on the role of Chief in upcoming elections. New Assistant Chiefs are invited to attend if space allows.
Offered prior to each election, open to all new Chief Election Officers and new Assistant Chief Officers if space allows.
Approximately 4.5 hours.
CH101 - Lecture Style Chief/Assistant Chief Election Training
This class will cover the basics of what it means to be a Chief or Assistant Chief Election Officer in Virginia and specifically Loudoun County.
This or CH101A MUST be completed by every Chief and Assistant Chief prior to each election served.
Offered within the 30 days prior to each election, open to all returningChief and Assistant Chief Election Officers.

CH101A-Hands on Chief/Assistant Chief Election Training
This class will cover the basics of what it means to be a Chief or Assistant Chief Election Officer, In Loudoun County Virginia. It will allow Officers to handle all Chief paperwork prior to Election Day.
This or CH101 MUST be completed by every Chief and Assistant Chief prior to each election served.
Offered within the 30 days prior to each election, open to all Chief and Assistant Chief Election Officers.

CH 102- Precinct Management and Paperwork
In-depth, hands-on course, presenting ways to improve upon one’s precinct management and paperwork completion. We will review the reasons why certain documents are required, and our expectations of Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs when completing them. This is geared toward returning Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs.
Offered periodically, open to all Chief and Assistant Chief Election Officers who have served in the role for at least one election.

CH103-Help Desk for Managers
Interactive Lab
Focused on basics of Help Desk
Goal is to get Chiefs and Assistants comfortable with Help Desk Responsibilities.

Classes for Help Desk Officers
HD100 - Help Desk Foundations
Learn the basics of what it takes to operate a precinct help desk. Learn about the forms, technology, etc. used at the help desk on election day. Approximately 3 hours.
Offered periodically, open to all returning Election Officers who have served in at least one election and were rated 'good' or 'excellent' by Chief.
MUST take HD100 prior to attending HD101.

HD101 - Help Desk Certification
Hands on class on operating a help desk on election day. During this class you'll handle different scenarios that you might encounter on election day and be asked to use tools provided to successfully deal with each situation. Upon successful completion of this class you'll earn your 'Help Desk Certification' and be able to manage the help desk in a precinct on election day.
Offered periodically, open to all Election Officers who have completed HD100.

Self guided practice with Electronic Pollbooks for Administrators
Offered in the 30 days leading up to the Election, open to all Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, and Help Desk Certified Officers.

HD201-Help Desk Election Officer Training
This class will cover reminders and updates necessary for any Help Desk Officer to perform their job on Election Day.
MUST be completed by every Help Desk Certified Normal Election Officer prior to each Election Served.
Offered within the 30 days prior to each election, open to all Help Desk Certified Election Officers.

Classes for Technology Officers
TC101 - Technology Certification
You'll learn hands-on how to set up, operate, and close all equipment used in elections. Upon successful completion of this class, you'll earn your 'Technology Certification' and be able to handle the equipment and troubleshooting in a precinct on election day.
Offered periodically, open to all returning Election Officers who have served in at least one election and were rated 'good' or 'excellent' by Chief.
Approximately 3 hours.
