I had plans to document lost media from fanime back in 2022. I initially scrapped the project due to these reasons:

• Searching for lost videos & archives felt too invasive

• I was documenting a lost episode from a controversial fanime at the time

• An Encyclopedia Dramatica page discussing fanime disgusted me

I got talked back into it in the summer of 2025, thanks to tapetum lucidum. So I gathered the lost content I already archived and put them onto this website.

However, I must make some things clear.

1. You are welcome to use my website as research for fanime content, including lost images and hyperlinks. However, I ask that you please credit me (candylani18/lani 1984), along with any other people that I credit, & leave a link back to this website.

2. DO NOT contact any of these old fanimators. This site was made as a fun way to catalog and theorize lost fanimes, NOT a hit piece or way to hunt down these creators, demanding to release a 20+ year old series. While some sources will feature a fanimator’s real name or face, I’ll only be referring to said fanimator by their username and profile picture. If a fanimator’s IRL info happens to be in a source, DO NOT dox or harass them.

3.  Most of the fanimes I’ll discuss will have public content and archives, whether it’s through the Wayback Machine or something else. I’ll mention some extra info for context, but it’ll solely be about the fanime itself. No reuploads or fan content will be counted, unless it’s a reaction video, fan edit, fan art, or audition.

4.  Some of the fanimes I discuss will NOT be for younger audiences or those uncomfortable from certain topics. As such, an age warning and content warning will be added to these.

5.  There will be some fanime, fanimators, or incidents that I WILL NOT discuss. Below are a few short lists explaining why.

Problematic Fanimes & Fanimators

These fanimes contain some lost media, but both these series and their creators have been have problematic pasts, often relating to bigotry and child exploitation. As such, none of these will be discussed.

Okami Landa - creator of Nonsense World (2009), Project Voice (2009), & Animoe Klub (2012?)

• Nonsense World features Japanophilia, misogyny, and sexualizing lolis and minors.

• I’m unsure if it’s the same Okami Landa or not, but there’s a guy with the same name that was arrested for possessing child porn & threatening an FBI agent. Take that as you will.

Miss Mari - creator of Mari Mari Cutie (2018)

• MMC has bad depictions of racism, sexual assault, and abuse. Ironically, the series normalizes ableism, misogyny, and romances with teachers and underaged students.

• Mari cancelled the series in 2020, after being exposed for defending a child groomer in her own community.

Esther - creator of Eternal Powers (2022) & Princess Stars (2009)

• Eternal Powers has sexualized characters with fetishes, racist caricatures, and one-note archetypes. This even applies to the underaged protagonists.

• EP’s original version of Episode 4 had racist depictions of Middle Eastern and South Asian people. This got Esther banned from the Fanime Castle Discord in late 2022.

• It’s just bad. Shock value, dropping the N word, “triggering the libs”, and just the name in general. Overall, painfully unfunny.

Former Popular Fanimators

These were fanimators who were once popular, but they left the community for one reason or another. Usually it’s being ashamed of their old work, getting involved in unwarranted drama, or getting doxxed. I won’t discuss these fanimators out of respect for their privacy.

• MewYuki23/MissyRandom - creator of Mew’s Missy Team, The Herstilanean Chanter, Tokyo Fetish Mew, etc.

• TackyAnimations - creator of Moth and the Man (2009)

• animestrawberrykitty - creator of YinYang (2010)

• Naupiko/Ssleepie - creator of Nelipot (2014)

Controversies Surrounding the Community

These are popular and well-liked fanime and/or communities, each of these containing lost media.

Unfortunately, this content contains brief histories of incidents and controversies over the years. While I will be discussing these fanime listed below, I will NOT be discussing the controversies involved with them, and for two reasons:

1.  many of these were out of a fanimator’s control and had nothing to do with them. Most of these involved trolls or other people.

2.  it’d be unethical and pointless to re-open years old wounds.

Any fanime pages from Encyclopedia Dramatica

• During the late 2000s & early 2010s, the fanime community became a target for trolls and detractors. As such, a handful of ED pages were made about fanimes & fanimators overall, with the usual derogatory dialogue the site’s infamous for.

• ED was the main reason I originally quit the lost fanime media idea in 2022. Besides mentioning some archived links saved there, I will not be discussing ED in great detail, since several pages borderline on lying and harassment.

Tokyo Crystal Mew & Tokyo Moay Mew Incidents

• Tokyo Crystal Mew was a subject of trolling during 2007-2009, with troll discussions on ED & reposts on NicoVideo making it an infamous meme. These will be briefly mentioned when discussing TCM’s popularity and even the creation of Tokyo Moay Mew, but don’t expect archives from people mocking the series.

Elemental Goddess & Care Bear Stars Incidents

• Trolls & A-loggers reposting content during 2007-2009, harassing the creators and voice actors on YouTube, & spreading lies about each series on ED, poeTV, & NicoVideo

• Diamant88 (creator of EG) discontinuing the series in 2010 setting his videos to private in 2014

• JCStars (creator of CBS) deleting his accounts in 2010 after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Cookie Jar Entertainment in late 2009

• The late 2009 incident where Cookie Jar Entertainment sent JCStars (creator of CBS) a cease-and-desist letter.

• A fascist on Deviantart stole artwork from CBS and put racist & political imagery on them, back in 2009. I edited this imagery for lost media sake, but I’m not crediting the reposter for obvious reasons.

• An AI freak on Deviantart & Tumblr back in 2024 made AI generated images of Care Bear Stars, seemed to briefly stalk JC on Instagram, & potentially has a fetish for AI generated babies.

Fanime World & FanimeTube Drama within 2008-2010

• There are archives and old posts of in-fighting, miscommunication, and political opinions between some FW members & FW admins during 2008-2009. Some of these incidents were archived on EDramatica, and even brought up on other lolcow-type websites. While I will mention the FW website going dormant in 2009, do not expect me to bring up this old drama or any major people involved.

• Similarly, it was an issue in both Fanime World & FanimeTube that underlooked fanimators felt ignored. I even saw a comment from a FanimeTube promo video stating that fanimators that were friends with the admins got all the attention. While I am talking about these underlooked creators, I don’t intend to belittle or ignore anyone for their work.

Community Drama within 2014-2016, mainly 2015

• Long story short, there was some drama within the community during the mid-2010s. Some of the drama took place in areas like Fanime Skype, and even some fanimators from the era remember it. Any fanime that came out during this era will not discuss the drama.

Other short lived drama with fanimators

• Obviously nobody is a perfect person. Though unlike the blacklisted fanimators, these people made simple mistakes. That being said, anything controversial a fanimator said or did in the past but took accountability for it won’t be mentioned here.

Other Things

Some lost content from non-controversial fanimes won’t be included, if it feels too invasive to a fanimator’s privacy. So certain lost websites or fantimes will not be included because of this.

Also, any content or other random info about a fanimator will be briefly explained for context, but no further details or links will be added. If any fanimator who sees this wants their content removed, I will gladly do so.

Lists of “New Fanime” from Fandom Wikis with no info

This is just a list of “fanimes” I found on Fandom Wikis. Most of these are just elaborately written fanfics with no sort of video or other links. Some of these are actual fanfics with the "fanime" tag, but isn't an actual fanime. Many of these are newer and usually come from a fanfiction wiki or an unmodded wiki. As such, I can’t confirm if it’s lost or was just a fanfic, and therefore these won’t be included.

Nothing against the people who enjoy making pages like this, I'm just ensuring everything I discuss is legit. Especially since the general lost media community already has issues with gatekeeping and hoaxes.
