What up? I usually go by “Candylani18” online, & people in the fanime community mostly know me as a fanime addict who makes too many playlists for different fanime.
Joking aside, I do also have lots of interest in the community. I first learned about fanime in 2018 & joined the fandom in 2021. I have some fanime projects I’m either working on or being a part of. You’ll often catch me through voice acting and editing, but I also enjoy making art for fanimes too.
If you (hopefully) read the disclaimers, I originally planned to make a catalog of lost fanime media in 2022, but recently brought it back thanks to people like tapetum lucidum. The reason I wanted to talk about this in the first place is for a few reasons.
I was getting into lost media analyses at the time, and I wanted to join that community in a small way
I found out there was a LOT of lost and discontinued fanime, especially in 2019 and 2022
I like doing research on niche subjects that not a lot of people are interested in (aka autism)
This could potentially give some fanimators ideas for series or maybe even remake them!
This site is nowhere near professional and is just a side hobby, but I still wanted to make this a fun and somewhat informative look into lost fanime. Maybe even get a vibe of various eras of the community too. ^^
Miharu-chan & Manato-san transformed (LFA Mascots)
(ft. the YinYang fanime trio)
These two peeps are Miharu-chan & Manato-san, two monochrome magical peeps with colorful eyes & unique fashion. They’re not dating, since their relationship is more of a brother-sister type of bond.
Miharu & Manato both got lost from their original world, so they have no memories of where they came from, and very little remnants of their pasts. In fact, “Miharu” & “Manato” aren’t their real names, they’re glorified nicknames that they made for each other. Neither of them remember their original names, so in a sense, the nicknames are the closest things they have to identity.
But while the duo have each other, they use their magic to travel across dimensions, meet various characters (including other mascots), and help look for lost artifacts & people like them. The duo also have their own interests they share with each other. Miharu’s is lofi hiphop & lostwave music, while Manato’s is androgynous fashion & cosplay.
The two rarely transform, since they lost their original identities & would find it pointless. Because of this, Miharu wears a hoodie over her magical girl outfit, & Manato wears colorful clothes in his casual time. You would mainly see the two in their full getups during an attack from bad guys or monsters.
So that’s the lore about Miharu & Manato, but how did they come to be? Well, it all started with Miharu in 2023. She was already made to be a mascot, but not for lost media. Fanimator Nyan Neko Forever made a website & YouTube channel for broadcasting various fanime, a-la Adult Swim, and called “Fanime Terebi”. In short, he needed a mascot for the channel.
The mascot’s name would become “Mono-tan”, a pun on “monotone”, since this was supposed to be a monochrome girl with colorful eyes. Miharu was originally made to be Mono-tan, but a different design was used for the character instead.
Fanimator spookynya (major kudos) was actually the one who came up with Miharu’s colorful eyes & lost memories backstory. I added some of the extra stuff like the music tastes & significance of the hoodie.
But after some time, ironically, I nearly forgot about Miharu, besides making some art and using it in some unfinished NNSG art (at least as of writing this). When working on this site, however, I decided to bring the character back and make her the official mascot for “Lost Fanime Archives”.
Shortly after bringing Miharu back for this site, I had an idea lingering of giving her a “partner in crime”, whether romantic or otherwise. Then in late October 2025, I rediscovered some old art I made in 2021. It was a pen sketch of another OC I made, along with 2 random characters in genderswapped outfits. The girl looked eerily similar to Miharu, and the guy on the right gave me the idea for Manato’s design in early November 2025.
These two will primarily be used for artwork, with some occasional lore drops, but don’t expect me to make a fanime series based around them. XD
