Attendance

Classes are held on Thursdays from 2:50 - 5:00 at Valley View Elementary.  Students must arrive on time and attend all classes.  Regular and punctual attendance is one of the best investments students can make in their musical education.  It is essential for them to progress in the program.  While some absences are unavoidable, the accumulation of three or more unexcused absences in a given school year may result in the evaluation of the student's commitment to further participate in Los Mustangos de Valley View Mariachi Program.  The following are examples of excused absences:   

• School sponsored event

• Academic requirement

• Observance of religious holidays

• Student illness

• Family emergency

If a student is not going to attend a class, the parents must notify Andrea Withers at awithers@pleasantonusd.net before or on the day of the absence.

Asistencia

Las clases se llevan a cabo los jueves de 2:50 a 5:00 p.m. en Valley View Elementary. Los estudiantes deben llegar a tiempo y asistir a todas las clases. La asistencia regular y puntual es una de las mejores inversiones en la educación musical de los estudiantes y es esencial para su progreso en el programa. Aunque algunas ausencias son inevitables, acumular tres o más ausencias no justificadas en un año escolar puede resultar en la evaluación del compromiso del estudiante para continuar participando en el Programa de Mariachi Los Mustangos de Valley View. 

A continuación, se presentan ejemplos de ausencias justificadas:

• Evento patrocinado por la escuela

• Requerimiento académico

• Observancia de días festivos religiosos

• Enfermedad del estudiante

• Emergencia familiar

Si un estudiante no va a asistir a una clase, los padres deben notificar a Andrea Withers en awithers@pleasantonusd.net antes o el mismo día de la ausencia.

Behavior

Students are expected to show respect to teachers and peers at all times and to use respectful language.  Disruptive behavior is not tolerated.  All students must adhere to the regulations established by their teachers.  Additionally regular attendance and maintaining passing grades at school are required to participate in the program.  Failure to meet these expectations may result in removal from Los Mustangos de Valley View Mariachi program.

Comportamiento

Se espera que los estudiantes muestren respeto hacia los maestros y compañeros en todo momento y que utilicen un lenguaje respetuoso. No se tolera el comportamiento disruptivo. Todos los estudiantes deben cumplir con las normas establecidas por sus maestros. Además, se requiere asistencia regular y mantener calificaciones aprobatorias en la escuela para participar en el programa. El incumplimiento de estas expectativas puede resultar en la expulsión del Programa de Mariachi Los Mustangos de Valley View.

Practice

A student only progresses when they take time to practice between classes.  A student should practice EVERY DAY for at least 15 minutes.

• A student should practice the way they perform (standing).

• A student should practice small parts of the song.

• A student should record the minutes they practiced on their practice chart.

Práctica

Un estudiante solo progresa cuando se toma el tiempo para practicar entre clases. Debe practicar CADA DÍA durante al menos 15 minutos.

General Musical Instrument Care

Your student's instrument is fragile, please treat it with great care and respect.

• Always keep your instrument in its case when not in use.  Make sure case handles, hinges, locks and zippers are working properly.

• Never set anything on top of your instrument, and never store anything on top of your instrument inside its case.

• Do not leave your instrument unattended, whether inside or outside of its case.

• Don't leave your instrument in a car, where it it's susceptible to hot/cold temperatures as well as humidity fluctuations.

• Keep your instrument clean of fingerprints, and everyday dust and residue.  Do this by wiping your instrument down with a clean, soft, non-treated cloth before storing.

• Never attempt to repair an instrument at home.  If a repair is needed, take your instrument to your mariachi instructor.

Cuidado General de Instrumentos Musicales

El instrumento de su estudiante es frágil, así que trátelo con mucho cuidado y respeto. 

• Siempre mantenga su instrumento en su estuche cuando no esté en uso. Asegúrese de que las manijas, bisagras, cerraduras y cremalleras del estuche funcionen correctamente.

• Nunca intente reparar un instrumento en casa. Si necesita reparación, lleve su instrumento a su instructor de mariachi.

Performances

Performances are an important part of Los Mustangos de Valley View Mariachi program.  Because the classes offered at Valley View are designed for beginners, students are expected to perform at the end of year Fiesta (5/8/2026 at Amador).

DRESS FOR PERFORMANCES

Students are required to wear black pants or a long black skirt with a white collar shirt and black dress shoes.  Hair should be combed.

Los Mustangos de Valley View will provide the instrument and a bow tie.  Bow ties should be returned immediately after the performance.

Presentaciones

Las presentaciones son una parte importante del programa Los Mustangos de Valley View. Dado que las clases ofrecidas en Valley View están diseñadas para principiantes, se espera que los estudiantes se presenten en la Fiesta de fin de año (5/8/2026 en Amador).

VESTIMENTA PARA LAS PRESENTACIONES

Los estudiantes deben usar pantalones negros o una falda larga negra con una camisa blanca de cuello y zapatos de vestir negros. El cabello debe estar peinado.

Los Mustangos de Valley View proporcionarán el instrumento y una pajarita. Las pajaritas deben devolverse inmediatamente después de la presentación.
