Los Javelinos Cochinos
TAMUK Baja SAE Racing Team
Welcome to the homepage of Los Javelinos Cochinos !
For their Senior Design Project, six mechanical engineering students are representing Texas A&M University--Kingsville in the 2024 Baja SAE competition. They are the first TAMUK competitors in over 20 years. Also known as "Los Javelinos Cochinos", the team has begun designing a vehicle to show an international audience how well-trained they are.
The competitors are fierce, well-funded, and established with years of experience in the event. But on April 25th, 2024, Los Javelinos Cochinos will take the likes of Notre Dame, Arkansas, California, and many other colleges by storm.
We ask that you scroll through the page and get to meet the team, and should you like to donate or subscribe to our weekly newsletter, the link is listed below. We thank you for your time getting to know us, and as always, Tusk 'em hogs!
What is BAJA SAE ?
An undergraduate collegiate design competition. The goal is for an engineering team to design and build a single-seat, off-road vehicle to compete in a series of events that will test its design, manufacturability, and performance.
Why BAJA SAE ?
Throughout our senior design project, we will carry out the engineering process to create unique vehicle which complies with the stringent competition rules, our budget, and deadlines. By partaking in this one-year challenge the team members will apply classroom learning to real critical thinking, design and optimization, teamwork, and manufacturing processes.
TEAM Goals
Design a competitive race vehicle
Earn the maximum score possible in all of the competitive events
Leave proceeding classes of engineering students with a base of information and knowledge to ensure this event can be done in the future
Core Values
Utilize engineering analysis to design
Express our passion for offroad racing
Work as a team to overcome the many obstacles we will face as a brand-new competitor
How to get involved?
The 2023-2024 BAJA SAE team has already begun work, but it is not too late to get involved. BAJA SAE is a self-funded event, and all teams depend on the funds raised through sponsorship, donations, and fund raisers. If you are a company or individual visiting our page and would like to help Los Javelinos Cochinos, we are a registered Non-Profit and we appreciate any and all support.
