Competition

Welcome to the competition page! we will be posting updates as the days progress starting 4/25/24! We hope you all are as excited as we are! Stay tuned for the latest updates!

4/25/24 - DAY 1

Arrival

We've made it! Today was all about getting set up and registered. We established a spot in the paddocks and were already able to put our tools to use fixing some slight defects from wear and tear during the road trip. We completed the on-site registration for the competition and began the process of technical inspection by waiting in line for the first phase of tech: Engine Inspection. Unfortunately we were not able to get our engine inspected today as time ran out before it was our go (63 teams, 5 hours, it was expected) but we are second in line tomorrow morning. We are hoping for a fast and easy technical inspection tomorrow and fingers crossed we'll be driving by end of the day! We turned an awful lot of heads today with our car being so unique in design, all in all we are already having a blast and are looking forward to tomorrow!

4/26/24 - Day 2

Tech INspection

Los Javelinos Cochinos have been cleared to drive! After passing the engine check, 4x4 check, brake check, and final technical inspection, the team was given a passing status and was told we can drive and compete! For the first time in the history of TAMUK, a team will be driving during the events and competition!! Tomorrow the dynamic events begin, and then sunday is the endurance race. Stay tuned, videos and updates will be posted! We are so excited and proud to be one of the handful of teams that have currently passed, and we couldn't have done it without yall! Tomorrow, we ride!

4/27/24 - Day 3

Dynamic Events

Having passed technical inspection yesterday, today we competed in the dynamic events! this was by far one of the most fun parts of competition so far, as we finally got to drive the buggy through some tough track. The events we competed in were the Hill climb, Acceleration, Maneuverability, and Suspension and traction. Out of the 67 registered teams, we placed-

Hill Climb: 38th

Acceleration: 38th

Maneuverability: DNF

S&T: 37th

Overall we are ecstatic with these results! As a first year team, just making it to this point is virtually impossible, and here we are coming out well above some of the competition! Tomorrow is the endurance race, after walking it track it looks impossible for anyone to make it through, but we're confident in our buggy, and will let yall know how it goes!

4/28/24 - The Finale

The Endurance

Today was the endurance race, and we are proud to say that we competed 4 laps total, 4 more than anyone ever expected us to! It was a great race, but ultimatly our rear hub gave out, causing us to need assistance on the same obstacle for 3 times, which ended our race. We finished the endurance race 41st, with our final overall placement of 55! we are so incredibly proud of project, and take an astounding amount of pride in the fact that we were able to make it this far, but couldn't have done so without the support and belief in all of you! We will be posting GoPro footage soon so that you all can see the track we raced on, as well as some footage of the other events. After this semester ends we will be handing over the website to the new SAE Baja Club starting at TAMUK, as we are all graduating. We look forward to seeing where they can take this project ,and we know they will go far! Stasy tuned for some more footage coming soon! And once again, thank you all for your support and belief, its because of yall that we were able to make it so far.
