Lorraine's Album, book, video, and sheet music collection of The Who and Pete Townshend
Lorraine's collection of The Who and Pete Townshend's albums on CD, box sets, videos, books, and sheet music. See below for the definitive written listing.
I have known The Who since 1975. I first became aware of The Who after seeing the movie, 'Tommy' in quadraphonic sound at a movie theater along the Fort Lauderdale, Florida Beach. There after A boy friend, who was a classmate of mine at the Fort Lauderdale High School, heard that I especially liked the movie 'Tommy' and gave me as a gift the album 'Who's Next' by The Who recorded on a LP records. I really loved the 'Who's Next' the first time I heard it. The following year I saw The Who in concert at The Madison Square Garden, New York on 11 March 1976. The Who concert was great and fun. The Who made a great impression on me and I was quite keen about The Who, and I enormously enjoyed The Who's sound and performance.
Between 1975 and 1978, I started to acquire more albums recorded on LP records by The Who out of my pocket money. I already had the 'Who's Next' so I added the original 1969' Tommy', 'Quadrophenia', 'Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy', and 'The Who by Numbers' to my collection.
During the 1980's after the invention of the CD (compact disc) and CD player and up until 2022, I inevitably re-acquired 'Quadrophenia' on CD while shopping in New York City, 'Tommy', 'Who's Next', 'The Who by Numbers', and 'Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy.' Finding the CD amazing and extraordinary for its sound quality and endurance, after 1998, I had acquired the studio recordings of the entire original 16 works of The Who on CD and 15 solo works of Pete Townshend, songwriter and guitarist in The Who which included his studio and live recordings.
In addition to albums by The Who and Pete Townshend, I acquired three of their extraordinary box sets, including 'Who's Next - Life House'; seven fantastic videos of The Who's live concerts, movies, and documentaries; and five interesting books written by Pete Townshend, Richard Barnes and Larry David Smith; and five books of The Who's sheet music which I immensely enjoy playing guitar along with The Who.
