Lorenzo Tamellini
I am a senior researcher at CNR-IMATI Pavia. You can find more details on my full CV here (last update August 2023).
RESEARCH INTERESTS
My main research area is uncertainty quantification, and more precisely:
Single/multi-fidelity surrogate modeling (sparse grids, polynomial chaos, proper generalized decomposition, multi-index stochastic collocation)
Sensitivity analysis
Bayesian inversion and identifiability analysis
Applications of uncertainty quantification in
Engineering: naval engineering, 3d printing
Sciences of planet earth: groundwater flows and contaminant transport, rainfall-runoff, land subsidence, sedimentary basin formation, landslides
Biological systems: compartmental models, organs-on-chip
but I have also worked a bit on isogeometric analysis.
SOFTWARE
I develop and maintain the Sparse Grids Matlab Kit, a Matlab library for quadrature and interpolation on sparse grids. The current version is version 23-5 "Robert". You can find more information and download the Sparse Grids Matlab kit from the dedicated website.
I am also involved in the UM-Bridge project, a universal interface that makes any numerical model accessible from any programming language or higher-level software, with focus on uncertainty quantification, see this website.
TEACHING
I have given a few courses on uncertainty quantification, such as:
Informal short course at CNR-IMATI (8 hours), website here
PhD course for the PhD School in Mathematics of the University of Milano-Bicocca and Pavia (30 hours), website here
Get in touch with me to get access to the Google Drives with all the material, I am happy to share!
