ADMISSION OPEN - 2026-2027
Activities
Our school emphasizes a broad educational mission: to develop the "whole student." At Lord's, involvement in extracurricular activities is a key expectation as this exposure to a wider life fosters confidence and pride in one‘s self. Taking part in these out-of-the classroom activities helps students to understand the importance of critical thinking, time management, and academic and intellectual competence. In addition to enhancing their enjoyment of school life, these activities also nurture leadership qualities that will be the cornerstone of their successful participation in a wide range of activities in their professional and personal lives as adults. A wide range of extracurricular activities exist at our school geared towards meeting these needs.
The activities exist at a number of different levels:
the individual student level
the institution level
the broader community level.
At the individual level, activities are specifically designed to help students develop as individuals at a personal level. Such activities necessitate students working together towards a common goal. We believe that a students peer group is the most important source of an individual‘s personal development.. By working together with other individuals, students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflict, and lead others. Involvement in such peer group activities helps students mature socially by providing a setting for student interaction, relationship formation and discussions that foster an appreciation and acceptance of others' opinions and attitudes.
Ultimately, positive patterns of behavior are established and become the norm.
At the institution level, particularly through House activities, students develop a sense of ownership, belonging and pride in their group. These activities enable the students to see themselves as not just individuals, but as individuals who are part of a group to which they owe allegiance. Students have the opportunity to improve their leadership and interpersonal skills while also increasing their self-confidence. A range of House activities are designed towards the fulfillment of these goals—to ensure our Lions are productive contributing members of the society in which they live.
At the broader community level, the activities are designed to give students an exposure to the real world so that they can form a realistic understanding of their place in the wider society. This exposure allows students to link academic knowledge with practical experience, which leads to a better understanding of their own abilities, talents, and career goals. Future employers seek individuals with these increased skill levels, making these involved students appear more attractive in the job market.
Research indicates that involvement in extracurricular activities positively impacts on educational attainment and on educational aspirations. Students who are actively engaged are more likely to have higher educational ambitions than uninvolved students. The School's clubs and associations offer some of the most memorable, interesting and enjoyable aspects of students‘ experience.
Houses The School Houses play an important role in our history and in the student life. A house is called Pride (a group of Lions). The school is divided into four Prides:
Alexander Pride—Alexander the Great was a king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle.
Caesar Pride—Gaius Julius Caesar (July 100 BC[4] – 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general, statesman, Consul and notable author of Latin prose. He played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. Caesar is deemed to be one of the greatest military commanders in history.
Napoleon Pride—Napoleon Bonaparte (15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821) was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the later stages of the French Revolution and its associated wars in Europe. As Napoleon I, he was Emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815. Due to his success in these wars, often against numerically superior enemies, his campaigns are studied at military academies worldwide.
Ranjit Pride—Maharaja Ranjit Singh (13th November 1780 - 27 June 1839) also called "Sher-e-Punjab" ("The Lion of Punjab"), was the founder of the Sikh Empire, which came to power in the Punjab region in the early half of the 19th century. He became the first Sikh Emperor, after uniting the 11 Sikh Kingdoms of Punjab together to form an Empire. Maharaja Ranjit Singh is included in the list of "Undefeated Military Commanders", - a list of known military commanders who did not lose any significant engagement against the enemy as the commander-in-chief of a significant portion of a country's military forces. Each student is allocated to one Pride. Prides compete with one another at sports and in other ways, thus providing a focus for group loyalty.
Student Council
The Student Council is an organization of students, elected by the students, for the students. This experience provides students with the opportunity to practice leadership and citizenship. The Student Council is a forum for student expression and faculty-student interaction. It is set up at two levels – the Junior Student Council and the Senior Student Council. The student body and staff of the school elect council members.
Ambassadors Club
Our student Ambassadors are our official envoys. They are representatives of our school. They act as a link between the school and the outside community. They use their own experiences to give people interested in our school an idea of what it is like to be a student. Student Ambassadors play a vital support role such as:
Leading campus tours and organizing fun interactive activities
Attending high schools and sharing their experiences with students
Attending school and community expos
The program also provides the Student Ambassador with an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience - improving skills such as communication, team work and working with different age groups.
Art Club
Arts and crafts teach children to learn in different ways and approach problems and challenges creatively. The process of creating art helps students get in touch with a different side of themselves that they aren't able to access in other subjects like mathematics and science.
Teaching our students about art is a good idea—here's why:
It's been proven that early exposure to visual art, music, or drama promotes activity in the brain.
Art helps children understand other subjects much more clearly—from mathematics and science, to language arts and geography.
Art nurtures inventiveness as it engages children in a process that aids in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation.
Participating in art activities helps children to gain the tools necessary for understanding human experience, adapting to and respecting others' ways of working and thinking, developing creative problem-solving skills, and communicating thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.
Eco Club
Sensitizing our young students to environment related issues is the main purpose of the School's Eco Club.
Field Trips
These are based on the thematic volume being taught in every grade. This helps the children to take their learning beyond the classroom and observe its application in the real world. Our students visit a variety of cultural institutions, including art, natural history, and science museums, as well as theaters, zoos, and historical sites.
Literary Club
'Pen is Mightier than the Sword‘- that‘s the foundation on which the club has based its vision. From discussing stalwarts of literature to nurturing tomorrow‘s literary laureates, the club empowers the students with the power of dialogue. The Literary Club‘s members will get an opportunity to meet journalists and authors, participate in in-house writing competitions and other literary competitions. A Book Club is on the cards that will expose the children to the essence of great literary masterpieces of our times and encourage them to develop a habit of leisure reading. Established with an aim to cater to the interests of students with a journalistic bent of mind, the Literary Club educates the students about the nuances of the Fourth Estate- both in the processes of writing and editing. The Club maintains a wall newspaper- ‗Lord's Weekly‘, edits ‗Roar‘- the school newsletter, and promotes reading and writing in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages. Students get an opportunity to test their aptitude for journalism before they take a plunge in the future.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a country or NGO in a simulated session of a committee of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
Olympiad
The Olympiad is a national level certification program and competition for young learners in standards 1 through 12. It consists of the English, Mathematics, Science and Cyber Olympiads. The science tournament, branded as Science Olympiad, is a rigorous academic and scholastic aptitude competition on the pattern of the Sports Olympiad. The event encompasses various science disciplines, namely, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
The National Cyber Olympiad is an International talent search contest that identifies cyber savvy talents amongst the younger generation.
The IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad) is a test to identify and encourage the mathematical creativity of children.
The IEO (International English Olympiad) is an international search for young linguistics, youngsters who have become maestros in English language.
We strongly believe that such Olympiads, apart from bringing out the best in the participants, also help them gain confidence for competing with the best around them and in the country and internationally and contribute to personality development. Also recognition of merit at an early age is bound to infuse a certain sense of achievement that encourages them to do even better as they advance in age. The students are exposed to a variety of complex problems which demand a high level of analytical ability and proficiency in the use of various concepts from a cross-section of subjects, thereby invoking ingenuity in dealing with them. Since admissions to various professional institutions like IITs and Medical colleges are given on the basis of performance in competitive exams, such Olympiads also pave the way for a true understanding of the concepts that is so essential for doing well in these highly competitive exams.
Performing Arts Club
In keeping with our goal of nurturing curiosity and wondering, a Performance Art Club has been set up. This club provides an effective platform for students to display their talents in the fields of Theatre, Music and Dance. It empowers the students to fully realize their potential as performers by giving them opportunities to touch people‘s live through the Performing Arts Social Outreach Program. Budding stage artists are able to nourish and groom their skills under the guidance of experts.
Public Speaking Club
Public speaking is an art every student must develop. Public speaking helps to develop confidence among students, and enables them to be better prepared to take on leadership positions in future life. To be confident leaders, efforts have to begin at primary level. Hesitation and failure to present thoughts clearly is a prominent feature in today's child. To bring up our students‘ communication skills to global standards, the Public Speaking Club endeavours to bring about substantial change in oral communication skills amongst students.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp is organized during the summer vacations. The camp offers adventure activities, coaching in sports, art and craft, acting, dance and music. The students are also imparted English speaking lessons, prepared for competitive exams and extra classes are conducted for weak students. There are no extra charges for these classes. This program is not compulsory for students. The parents desirous of sending their wards need to enroll them before the school closes for the summer vacations.
Drill
Drill is the bedrock of discipline - thus goes an old saying and nothing could be closer to truth than the import behind this statement. The Drill square is often metaphorically compared to a potter's yard, wherein clay of various hues and textures are treated, amalgamated and finally shaped into commendable works of art; each piece unique in itself and yet part of a whole. Just as the Psalmist proclaimed 'Blessed be the Lord my God, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war', vigilant, meticulous and methodical tutelage is provided by drill instructor. The essential qualities of endurance, uniformity, military bearing, pride in one's self, turnout and most importantly implicit obedience to orders, are drilled, drummed and ingrained into the very persona of students over a span of few years through a well-structured lesson plan. Once through this time tested regime, a student is never the same again.
