Peer mentoring is a wonderful opportunity to connect with first-year students and help them navigate the challenges of their transition to college. My peer mentors were there to offer support and guidance, making me feel welcomed and reassured. Their kindness and dedication left a lasting impact on me, inspiring me to one day provide the same support to others who might be feeling the way I once did.
My goal is to create a welcoming space where students feel comfortable asking questions, seeking advice, and knowing they have someone who cares. By sharing my own experiences and offering the same encouragement I once received, I hope to ease their worries and help them find confidence in themselves.
I joined La Vida because of its strong dedication to first-generation students and its commitment to fostering a supportive community. As a former Avanza student, I know firsthand how valuable mentorship can be in shaping a positive college experience.
Now, I’m excited to give back and help others succeed by sharing what I’ve learned and creating a welcoming environment where they feel seen and supported.
Being a Peer Mentor is more than just a role, it’s an opportunity to empower students, celebrate their achievements, and remind them that they are not alone on this college journey.
