Cascade Pacific Council has a uniform bank to help youth and leaders who need assistance in obtaining uniforms. The aim of the uniform bank is to help youth and adults fully participate in Scouting programs, even if the cost of a uniform does not fit in their family budget. The council uniform bank is meant to supplement, not replace, any unit or district uniform bank you may already utilize.
Our council uniform bank is managed entirely by Carolyn Kirby, a dedicated volunteer in the Hood River area. She accepts and prepares 'experienced' uniforms for adoption by Scouts all over the eighteen counties served by Cascade Pacific Council.
There are no forms to fill out to request a uniform, as we use the honor system. Requests are filled on a first come, first served basis. Requested items are delivered several times each month to the Portland Scouting Service Center (2145 SW Naito Parkway, Portland). They can also be mailed if the recipient is willing to pay for postage. Requests can be submitted to Carolyn Kirby at cbkezpz@gmail.com.
Do you have or know of any uniform items that someone has outgrown or no longer needs? Have you seen any at thrift stores or yard sales? Could you help by donating them to the uniform bank? This is a great way to recycle items rather than sticking them in a box in the attic or donating them to a thrift store where they may not ever make their way back to useful life as a Scout uniform.
'Experienced' uniform items can be brought to the Portland Scouting Service Center (2145 SW Naito Parkway, Portland). Please place laundered items in a bag or box labeled “Uniform Bank.” If this is not convenient, please contact Carolyn Kirby ( cbkezpz@gmail.com ) to make other arrangements.
