Silver Falls

A bunch of notes:

• If you have special dietary needs, check the menu (bottom of this email) Its got a lot of gluten. Bring whatever you need. there is a full kitchen available, however limited cookware / oven space.
• We'll do skits Saturday night. Typically we just do the scouts, according to den, but since there are several siblings coming too, we're going to include them as well and split into 5 groups.
• We should have enough space for 1 person per bunk (including double-size bunks), however, if you can double-up on the larger bunks or bring a cot, that might help.
• Don't forget to pay if you haven't already. either do Paypal or bring a check
• I will bring a couple extra pinewood derby kits
• We'll do a fun activity Sunday morning with the kids (and need a few volunteers to help) while parents pack up and clean. (note: this all switches around in Boy Scouts. Scouts will be doing the packing and cleaning while parents enjoy a campfire :-) )
• You won't need to bring uniforms
• Have lunch before you go
• Bring water and a snack on the hike
• Cell service is doubtful
• The only outlets are probably in the kitchen (fyi: CPAP users / air mattresses)

Saturday

· 12:30pm (if you want to carpool) meet at Oak Creek Elementary to carpool / caravan

· 2:15pm Meet at South Falls Day Use Area parking lot (GPS coordinates: 44.877644, -122.655631 -- just type this into google maps)

· 2:15pm Distribute (provided) parking passes, use bathrooms, get water, coats, etc

· 2:30pm Go on falls hike (leaves promptly)

• Note: we may drive to a new trailhead
• Parents, help keep kids together. Nobody goes ahead of the hike leader

· 4:00pm New Ranch set up, find a bunk, Activities, dinner prep

· 6:00pm Dinner

· 7:00pm Evening Activities

• Campfire
• Skits
• Dessert
• Night hike

Sunday

· 7:30am Rise and Shine

· 8:00am Breakfast

· 9:00am Kid’s Pack up

· 9:30am Morning Activity and Parent Clean-up

· 10:45am Depart

Bring the following

· Warm clothes

· Rain gear

· Flashlight

· Shoes/boots for hiking

· Shoes for inside the lodge

· Class B shirt for dinner

· Sleeping bag, pad, pillow, pajamas/sweatpants/sweatshirt

· Personal care items

· Camp chairs (for sitting around indoor camp fire)

· Anything else you might need

· Teddy bear

· Plastic trash bag for wet or muddy clothes / shoes

· Battery for charging your cell phone while its in your backpack

· Earplugs (in case anyone snores)

Leave at home

· Alcohol

· Firearms/fireworks

· Pets

· Electronic games / screens / phones (for kids)

· We are meeting at the Silver Falls Day-Use area parking lot near the South Falls Café. This involves a hard left turn about a quarter of a mile after entering the park. Look for the day use area signs.
