This year, the Texas Polo Team was fortunate enough to be invited to the USPA's leadership conference held in Wellington, Florida. Wellington is the home of the International Polo Club as well as the headquarters of the USPA. We sent Captain Hannah Smith to represent our team and learn from the administration of the USPA as well as other polo team leaders from collegiate teams across the country about how to help our team reach it's absolute potential. Thank you so much to Amy Fraser, coordinator of USPA's i/i teams, for giving us this opportunity! Hannah learned a lot and is excited to come home and implement new ideas for the Texas Polo Team!
After a week of postponements due to bad weather, we finally had our first riding practice at County Line Polo Club. Returning players and new recruits alike enjoyed the good weather as they tacked up their ponies. We hope this is the beginning of a fantastic season for the Texas Polo Club :)
Today we brought one of our polo ponies, Rio, down to the Turtle Pond to meet UT students and teach more about polo! Rio was super calm the entire time and did amazingly well, and we'd like to thank anybody who came by to say hello. If you don't want to miss more special events like this, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as stay updated on our events page.
Teammates Hannah Smith, Grace Calkins, and Logan Hashmi (with help from friend Landry Harmon) kick off the 2018 recruitment season by setting up tables outside of the Flawn Academic Center. The club's tabling schedule can be found on the Calendar page, so if you want to introduce yourself or ask questions regarding the team or the sport of polo, don't be shy! We're all very friendly and I'm sure in Austin's impressive heat, the tablers would love having someone to talk to and distract them.
