Settings as Aktivität

The settings for the app are not made directly on the watch, but via the GARMIN mobile app,
either via the CONNECT or CONNET IQ app.

Note: On some watch models, it is not possible to display Stress or Body Battery. In this case, a corresponding message appears on the display.
Heart rate, stress and body battery values are determined directly by the watch and not calculated via the app.

Disease pattern

Select whether the factor for Long COVID (0.6) or ME/CFS (0.5) should be used to calculate the maximum heart rate for pacing.

Max. Heart rate for Pacing

Calculating the heart rate for pacing depends on several factors:

First, the maximum heart rate must be calculated. Since no athletic performance test can be expected from sick people, a rule of thumb must suffice. This is calculated as follows depending on gender:

Depending on the disease, this maximum heart rate is now multiplied by a factor:

People with ME/CFS therefore appear to have a lower exercise threshold than patients with Long COVID.

Example for a 43 year old woman with LongCOVID:

max HRpacing = HRmax x 0.6
HRmax = 206 - (43 years x 0.88) = 168

max HRpacing = 168 x 0.6

max HRpacing = 101

The value must be an integer.

IMPORTANT: These formulas and values for the factors are “only” approximate and NOT exact and may vary from person to person, so if you find that the value for pacing does not quite suit you, change it.

Duration for exceeding the maximum heart rate (default: 2 min)

How long can the maximum heart rate be exceeded before the alarm is triggered?

The combination of max. heart rate and duration determines the individual stress limit in everyday life.

By changing the duration or the max. heart rate, this limit can be shifted.

Vibration on alarm

The watch vibrates once when the alarm is triggered.

Sound on alarm

The watch emits a single sound signal when the alarm is triggered.
Note: The watches in the Vivoactive series do not support this function - even if it is activated in the settings.

Record alarm event as activity

The alarm is saved as a "pacing event" with heart rate level, time and duration. This is displayed in Garmin Connect™.

Background color

Choice of black or white background. The alarm color is always red - with the exception of the Instinct series.

Select color style

Choice between multicolor (colorful) or monochrome (black/white)

Show dark mode

The display is dimmed and shown in monochrome (see "Color style" setting). Optionally during bedtime (controlled via the general settings of the clock).

Red font in dark mode

When the dark mode is active, the font of the display is shown in red instead of white, similar to the new "Red Shift Mode" from Garmin.

Update frequency

Specifies the time interval at which the current heart rate is measured. The shorter the interval, the sooner the watch reacts to the maximum heart rate being exceeded. However, the battery consumption is then also higher.

Display Resillience

The "Up" and "Down" buttons can be used to switch directly between "Resillience" and the time. For watches with a touch display, use the respective gesture for "Page up" or "Page down".

Delete all data

This deletes all heart rate, stress and body battery data saved by the app. This means that the calculation of the load capacity starts again from the beginning - as well as the display for the resting heart rate of the last 7 days.

ATTENTION - This can NOT be undone.
