Lesson Schedule
Your child's lesson time has been reserved for them. Please respect the students that have lessons before and after your child by being on time. I will not extend your child's lesson time if you are late. If you need to speak to me, please do it at the beginning of your child’s lesson, not the end.
Tuition
Tuition for private lessons is due at the first lesson each month unless other arrangements have been made. Your tuition is based upon enrollment, so although payments occur monthly, they do not reflect a certain number of lessons per month. Please see Tuition and Fees.
You may pay by check or cash. I will also accept credit/debit cards. (A 3% fee will be added to card purchases to cover card fees.) All returned checks must be paid immediately to keep your account in good standing and must include a $25 fee to cover bank charges.
Cancellations
If your child is sick, please do not send them to lessons. If you need to reschedule a private lesson, please let me know as early as possible. I cannot guarantee a makeup lesson the same week. I have make-up days built into the calendar. My schedule is very full, but the sooner I know, the better your chances are. No-shows will not be rescheduled.
Weather-related cancellations will be made on a case by case basis.
Books and Materials
Students purchase books and materials from Amazon. When new books or materials are needed, you will be notified.
All students should have a quality piano to practice on. Pianos may be acoustic or digital. If you would like help in selecting a piano, I would be glad to assist you. Please tune acoustic pianos at least once a year, preferably twice. If you need help locating a qualified tuner, I would be glad to recommend one.
Recitals/Competitions
There will be a recital in May. Sometimes I will also schedule one in November or December. You will receive information on recitals as the date approaches.
Summer Session
Summer session includes the months of June and July. Information will be sent home close to the end of the school year.
Discontinuance
If your child wishes to discontinue lessons, you must pay out the current month, whether your child attends or not. Refunds will not be given if a child quits mid-month. I prefer for students to finish out the semester. It’s important for students to honor their commitment and see it through.
If necessary, I may request that a student discontinue lessons if they have excessive absences, are seriously behind in tuition or book payments, have a pattern of unpreparedness, extreme disinterest, or are severely disrespectful.
If you choose to discontinue lessons, and then decide to come back, you will be treated as a new student. You will be at the back of the line for available lessons. Current students will always receive scheduling priority above new students.
Practice
Consistent practice is required. Together, we will determine minimum practice time for each student at each level. Remember that a lesson that isn’t prepared for costs the same as a lesson that is prepared for.
