You will be assigned a weekly, 30-minute time slot. Expectations are as follows:
Beginner Level (Years 1 & 2) Music foundation-building. At least 1 performance opportunity per year. Student will finish on average 1 set of books per year. Practice expectation is 10-20 minutes per day, 3-4 days per week.
Late Beginner Level (Years 3 & 4) Continued foundation-building. Introduction to scales/chords. At least 2 performance opportunities per year. Students will finish on average 1 set of books per year. Practice expectation is 20-30 minutes per day, 3-4 days per week.
Early Intermediate Level (Years 4-6) This is when music learning really starts to become fun. Students have a solid skill set, and are accustomed to performing. Several performance opportunities per year. Practice expectation is 30-45 minutes per day, 4 days per week.
Late Intermediate/Early Advanced Level (Years 6-8) This is a level of mastery that once achieved, allows for incredible freedom to learn whatever one might want. Practice expectation is 45-60 minutes per day, 5 days per week, depending on the seriousness of the student.
Advanced Level (Year 8+) This level of study is for the serious student-a future music major or someone who takes their music very seriously. Practice expectation is 60 or more minutes per day, 5-6 days per week.
Adult Student If you are an adult beginner or are an adult who used to play piano and want to try again, we will work together to decide what your lesson will look like. Whether you're a serious student or a casual student who wants to play for personal enjoyment, we can accommodate you. No performances required.
