This project now has a GoFundMe campaign. The target is £25,000, which will:-
fund preparation and delivery of the book
help to fund development of the movie and documentary.
You can go straight to our dedicated GoFundMe page and make a donation there. All payments are handled securely by GoFundMe.com and every donation is protected.
Any donation would be really appreciated!
A SPECIAL WORD
to anyone who made any money out of the Lloyd's of London 1991-2009 debacle: please give generously towards the relatively modest £25,000 GoFundMe target for these reasons, among others:-
the saga made you good money
if you were a lawyer at the time, you probably came across my relevant books, articles and conference talks, which almost certainly helped you in what was probably a lucrative specialist practice. If we met professionally on this subject, you will have experienced the uniquely distinctive Astor lucidity at first hand
the book will form an important part of the permanent historical, business and legal record and needs to get done properly
all false modesty aside, I'm one of the very few people, and I may be the only person, who can and will get this project done. You know from my record that I'm the right man for the job.
THE GIVING PROCESS
If you so wish, please email me before and or after you've made a donation so we can get acquainted, we can discuss the project, and I can tell you where your money is going to go: rszrabe@protonmail.com.
You might fancy funding something specific like a graphic, a computer model, etc.: see below for some specific envisaged expenses.
SPECIFIC EXPENSES
Substantial niche creative for-profit business projects like this one — on a technical subject for general and professional readers — don't research, write, print, produce, publish, promote or sustain themselves, and at no upfront cost. They need the effort, and related expenses, of conception, gestation, birth and upbringing in order to see the light of day and attempt to turn a profit. This project is not a hobby and I'm not a charity. It must stand on its own two feet financially.
I anticipate that project-specific expenses will include (for example):-
data processing and products, some of it by AI, some by humans: financial calculations; analysis and evaluation of financial statements, technical documents (policies, wordings, slip stamps, SYA stamps, pleadings, judicial decisions etc.) and other data (two firsts: the unprecedented collection in one place of relevant data, and their unprecedented examination holistically, in full context, cross-referenced and correlated); data-intensive graphics (I like Wolfram.com and similar products); multi-dimensional full-context models and simulations; animations, etc.
acquiring relevant data not available for free
book layout: I can lay out a textbook myself, but this book will be of a different order of presentational and substantive complexity and will need professional help
an attractive, modern, fully functional, interactive website where users can examine, analyse and play with relevant data etc.
an online repository of relevant publicly available documents
unavoidable travel to unavoidable sources and source material (not everyone and everything is online sufficiently or at all)
engaging an appropriate (not too fancy) screenwriter to make a preliminary draft outline (with storyboards) of a screenplay, and appropriate modestly priced videographers etc. for the documentary.
(I already have a GoFundMe campaign for another separate publishing project. That other GoFundMe campaign's detailed description of its expenses is here. Similar expenses will apply to The Policy project, but there won't be any duplication, and there should be some efficiencies.)
