Brief Chosen: Music video + Website
How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning
and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)
Product 1
The central concept of my video will cover a couple who have a dysfunctional relationship; they argue a lot and they fight for each other's love because deep down they still love each other and wish to stay together. My concept fits into the genre of Narrative as I tell the story of a teenage couple who struggle through disagreements. I work with the Beggar’s Music group, and because of this, we need to make hybrid videos to present audiences to our group by performing and lip-syncing. My target audience is 16-25 ABC1 midmarket and The Beggar’s group values include presenting ‘new artists’ to the audience by showing their way of performance to present a good image for them. Therefore I will include an instrument (Piano) and a lipsync. My video will include representations of a teenage couple arguing while still fighting for each other's love. I will do this to spread awareness of less talked about relationship types. My video will include dark saturated red lighting to show the contrast between anger as well as the love they still have for each other. It also includes a range of camera shots from closeups, long shots, and panning shots to create a sense of movement and change within the story.

The colour scheme of the website will have hints of dark red and dark blue which fits perfectly with the video because of the use of dark saturated red which conveys their unhealthy relationship as well as the love they will always have for each other. I will make the background an image of London during Christmas, which will attract the British audience because it will give them a sense of familiarity. The pages on my website will include merchandise for audiences to purchase and embedded videos such as the ending for my video, which the audience is encouraged to go and watch from the link to my website at the end of my music video. As well as, a blooper video for the audience to see the behind-the-scenes content from shooting the video. My website will reflect my artist to be creative and evocative and I will include movements and engaging components on my website to be eye-catching, for example, a looped video of Hanna Taylor in her ‘About’ section. I will include a way to sign up for exclusive content such as merch drops and updates for new music, as this will keep the audience interested. I will include social media links towards the end of my website which makes it more visible to them once reading through the website and encourages the audience to look at my other social media for more content and updates on new music or videos. I will also incorporate an ‘About page’ where you can learn more about the artist’s journey as well as a link to the ‘One Love Foundation’ which is partnering up with my artist to spread awareness of spotting toxic relationships and how to deal with them. This partnership may appeal to a 16-25-year-old audience who may find themselves in a toxic relationship throughout their lifetime. For that reason, I decided it was important to team up with ‘One Love’ to spread awareness on this less talked about topic.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of
the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
My main digital convergence will be the ending of the music video which is left ambiguous for the audience to find out by clicking the link and visiting the website. The ending shows a title card reading ‘To see how the story ends, visit my website.’ I did this to create a sense of interest in finding out what happens at the end of the video, which ultimately makes the audience want to visit the website. The ending will be on the ‘Main page’ of my site. My website will display a screenshot of Hannah Taylor’s Instagram account, including recent posts to show to audience the artist outside of filming the video. It will have a call to action button where you can visit her account, which audiences have the choice of following or engaging with the posts.
