I am interested in the genetic processes that lead to reproductive barriers within natural populations. In my PhD project I am employing genomic methods on two closely related butterfly species in southern Europe. The focus of the project lies on a hybrid zone of the two species in the Pyrenees. By understanding the popu;lation level dynamics that lead to the reproductive separation in this system, I aim to derive general insights about speciation processes.
2025 – present: PhD, The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Title: The genomics and spatial dynamics of semi-permeable species barriers - the Marbled White hybrid zone as a test case.
2024 – 2025: Research Assistant and Museum Guide, State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart, Germany.
