Martin Steinert (MS) is Professor of Eng. Design and Innovation at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences – NTVA. Becoming Head of the newly formed Design and Engineering group (D&E) at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MTP) in 2022, he has published more than 240 articles, mostly on multidisciplinary prototyping of technology concepts and design of experiments as well as patents and other science communication. Having been amongst others at Stanford University as Ass. Prof. (acting) until 2013 and again in 2021 as visiting faculty, Martin has received grants as main PI from the US National Science Foundation, the National Science Foundation of Switzerland, and the Research Council of Norway, as well as from universities, foundations, and industry, totalling around 15 mil USD. MS is currently supervising 9 PhDs across NTNU and heads the thriving prototyping lab at TrollLABS that he founded in 2014. Based on a global ranking from Stanford in 2022, MS is in the top 1% within ME based on standardized citation indicators.
