How long does an establishment take ?
An establishment can take anywhere from 24 – 36 hours depending on the hair length and density.
How long does a retightening take?
Anywhere from 4-6 hours depending on your loc count. Your loc count can range from 400-600 locs.
How much hair do I need to have for an establishment?
You must have 4 inches of hair or more.
What type of locs do you do?
We do microlocs (request what size you would like) with the interlocking method. If you prefer braided microlocs that option is available as well.
Do you establish Microlocs? If so, how much are they?
There is no difference between Microlocs and Sisterlocks . The technique may differ, however, they are both petite locs established over a period. The price is the same for both.
How long does it take for my hair to loc?
It depends on the rate that your hair grows, your curl pattern and density. You have to trust the process. Your loctician will tell you when you are loc’d.
Transfer Clients ONLY:
If it has been 4 weeks or more since your last retightening, your price will increase by an extra retightening fee per retightening miss.
What constitutes extra payment required?
There will be a fee assessed for slippages, missed retightening’s, repairs, and any retightening’s that take more than 6-8 hours to complete.
When can I color my hair?
Locs By Sunshine does not recommend coloring before establishment. You should wait until your locs are settled in or well on their way. Consult with your loctician. If you color your hair before your hair is lock'd, you will run into breakage and a longer loc’ing process. DO NOT COLOR BEFORE OR IN BETWEEN.
Are these locs versatile?
Yes, they are. You can do about anything with them.
How do I prepare for a wash?
To prep your hair for the wash, you braid and band your hair in medium size sections using small hair bands at the base and ends. Braiding and banding stops the locs from slipping and/or unravelling as it allows the locs to be cleansed with minimal manipulation. So it’s really important to do that every time you wash your hair until your loctician states you fully locked.
What do I do after I wash?
After washing, taking one braided section at a time, un-braid and un-band the section and run your fingers through the section to detangle and separate the locs.
How should I pick my loctician?
Please do not go with the one who’s the cheapest. Go to the consultation and feel the vibe. DO NOT SETTLE!
Are these locs permanent? What will you do if you decide that you don’t want them anymore?
They are technically not permanent — you can comb them out. But it would take AGES to do so. Most people who no longer want their locs cut them off rather than trying to comb them out. I will establish locs but I will not take them out.
Do you offer discounts?
No!
