Place

Place is defined as “a particular portion of space, whether of definite or indefinite extent” [5]

This is a family-owned farm that has been passed down from generation to generation. As it was passed down more and more was added to what they did. This land was bought in the 50's by a man named Samuel Patterson and he built the market then which is now a huge part of Patterson's fruit farm and the sales that they make. [3]

The meaning of Patterson Fruit Farm:

  • This is a place families can spend the day and enjoy the scenery.

  • Families can also buy from the market, the kids can play on the playground, take family portraits, and walk on the trails.

  • During the fall they have a fun fest day where people can paint pumpkins, go on hayrides, get apple cider, and so much more.

  • They also hold classes such as applesauce making classes or jam classes where people can learn how to make those things.

  • The schools nearby do field trips there annually where the children get to spend the day and do some of the fun classes and enjoy the scenery.

  • Lake Erie can be seen from the farm on a day that is clear.

Patterson Fruit Farm has personal meaning for me because I grew up going there every fall and taking family pictures. We would walk around and spend time in the market as well as outdoors. I would always get apple cider and a caramel apple before we would leave get to pick apples from the trees in the orchard. I now go there with my aunt and baby cousin and get to experience the fun they have as well.
