I started from scratch without a clue about growing food and now I’m completely hooked. I truly believe reconnecting with the land is how we heal, feel whole, and rediscover what real food tastes like — shop bought non-organic fruit and vegetables don’t even come close. I love every part of it: learning to grow, gathering volunteers, cooking with what we harvest, and raising funds through events and grant applications to keep our project thriving. It keeps me super busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Federico is our organic gardening guru, and leads our educational efforts. He has a long track record in agricultural research and horticultural practice. Formerly a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience at Coventry University, he spent 8 years managing a field project at an organic farm in Hertfordshire, growing vegetable crops for sale to the local community. He was awarded the Garden Hero Award by the Mayor of London in 2012. His long awaited, successful book publication :- Live to Eat or Eat to Live?:
I am local to the allotment and I share the same objectives as the CIC.
It enables volunteers and local community to enjoy home grown organic produce all year round.
I particularly enjoy being alongside nature, socialising, sharing ideas and recycling materials to help the allotment run more efficiently. Sharing the experience with like minded people, outside in the fresh air gives me a sense of wellbeing.
