There once was a boy who was born for greatness. He had loving parents and a promising childhood in front of him. One fateful night however, the history of the wizarding world would be forever altered. Lord Voldemort, at the height of his terror on the wizarding world, set out to change his fate. He aimed to kill this boy destined for greatness, but fate intervened. The killing curse, an invariable way to end a life, didn’t work. Although this boys parents were murdered at his feet, he emerged–just a baby–with nothing but a scar. He became the boy who lived; Harry Potter.
Many years later, the Wizarding Assembly of National Defense (W.A.N.D.) was founded in June of 1995 following the Triwizard Tournament that took place during the 1994-1995 school year. Specifically what pushed for this committee to be created was the death of Cedric Diggory at the last task of the Triwizard Tournament as well as supposed Death Eater attacks that have been happening since the Dark Mark appeared at the Quidditch World Cup in 1994. The Ministry of Magic implemented this committee in order to investigate these supposed appearances as well as the tragic death of Cedric Diggory. The committee was wrought with backlash due to the uneasy subject matter. Half of the committee’s participants believe that Lord Voldemort has in fact returned, while the others believe it is a conspiracy to take over the Ministry. The W.A.N.D Committee perseveres however, and will likely be the most influential meeting of witches and wizards of the century. The world is watching to see the outcome of this committee as the world falls apart in the background.
The Dark Mark Rises will not require the submission of a position paper or any documents prior to committee. Spend your time researching your crisis and your character.
