The UNM World Affairs Delegation (or WAD) promotes awareness of international issues in the Albuquerque area, and is UNM's active Model United Nations team. WAD kicks its year off with WAD MUN, an internal conference to prepare our members for trips throughout the year. In late October, we attend TrojanMUN in LA hosted by the University of Southern California. WAD has won awards at this conference for the past few years and we are excited to bring more home in the future. Our Model UN team is also one of a few teams in the US which participates in WorldMUN. The location changes each year, but it is always an amazing experience. Traveling with WAD offers a great addition to the UNM experience, and we fundraise year-round to make travel to these conferences affordable for our members.
WAD also proudly chairs the New Mexico Model United Nations conference (NMMUN) in Santa Fe in addition to LoboMUN. In addition to hosting and attending Model UN conferences, we aim to educate our members and further their journey as global citizens. We have hosted lecture series, given content presentations to our members, and partnered with internationally focused organizations. Members of WAD are generally from a spread of majors, so don't be deterred if you aren't thinking of going into Political Science or International Studies.
