“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”

Dorothea Lange

"Street photography means being in the right place at the right time  - and knowing it."

Number One Tip For Street Photography

The Framing Technique

You can add more interest to your street photography by framing a subject through a foreground or background shape.

One way of doing this is by shooting through a window or door from the outside.  This give the photograph additional depth and balance and adds interest.

"Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world."         Bruno Barbey

“Only a few people can see but most people don't even look.” Fred Herzog

"The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are."               Ernst Hass

“Die knowing something. You’re not here long.” ― Walker Evans

Best street photography in a Swedish rock video - below.

Kent  -  Då Som Nu För Alltid

The video by Swedish rock band Kent promoting the band's latest, greatest and last album "Då Som Nu För Alltid" (Then as now forever) has reached Gothic heights and quickly went viral.

The unnerving drummer girl in the video dressed as a skeleton will not soon, if ever, be forgotten.  Street scenes of the drummer joined by crowds waving flags, a girl on a horse, and a tiger are something you don't see often in rock videos.  (I didn't know they had tigers in Sweden)  This chilling video is a Swedish classic, like an Ingmar Bergman movie.

If you don't know Swedish the words at the end of the video are Sista albumet (last album) and Sista turnen (last tour).

Women's Land Army 1916

When large numbers of British men were sent to the western front during World War One, women were called on to work the farms.  The British government created the Women's Land Army (WLA) in 1915 to help fill to need for agricultural workers during the war.  The program was disbanded in 1919 and restarted in 1939.
