Monday/Tuesday, April 27th-April 28th
@ LNHS Courtyard/Cafeteria
Please arrive EARLY for tryouts clinics.
3:45 PM: Check-in begins
4:30 PM: Dynamic Warm-Up
4:45- 5:00 PM: Jumps/Tumbling
Jumps (Monday)
We will start with a review of counts and proper form before moving into four different jumps: Toe-Touch, Hurdler, Pike, and Double Toe-Touch.
All prospective athletes are expected to come prepared with a strong understanding of our jump counts and the required jumps for our program.
Tumbling (Tuesday)
We will begin with a quick warm-up in panels before asking to see highest tumbling skill.
Please note that NO spotting will be allowed during clinics or evaluations. All tumbling skills must be performed independently with confidence, control, and proper technique. Prospective athletes should only throw skills they can execute safely on their own. A friendly reminder that tumbling does NOT guarantee athlete placement.
If you do not have tumbling skills, you will be working on jump technique during this time.
5:00-5:30 PM: Stunting
We will begin the stunting portion by placing prospective athletes in groups and ask that ALL prospective athletes remain flexible as will be moving girls into various groups throughout to show versatility.
We will review stunt basics. As your group progresses, we will ask to see additional elite skills based on stunt progressions.
Please be flexible and understanding, as coaches may ask you to try a new stunt position.
5:30-6:00 PM: Material Review Rotations (REMEMBER you are responsible for learning the material PRIOR to tryouts, videos will be available shortly under the "tryout material" tab)
Cheer (video)
Fight Song (Video)
6:00-6:20 PM: Work in your tryout group!
6:20-6:30 PM: Debrief with Coaches & Clean Up
*All prospective athletes are expected to arrive early, fully prepared, and remain afterward to assist with organizing the cheer mats.*
Wednesday, April 30th
@ LNHS Cafeteria
Prospective Athletes will sign up for time slots on Monday. It is their responsibility to show up 45 minutes before their evaluation time. All athletes are expected to warm up their skills prior to their evaluation time. Failure to arrive for their scheduled evaluation time will result in not making Lake Nona Cheerleading.
2:00 PM: Evaluations Prep Outside of Gym (on two mats)
This time is for athletes to individually stretch, warm up any tumbling/jumps/stunts, etc that will be performed during their final evaluation. This is not the time to try new skills. Please work on what you have practiced throughout the week in preparation for the tryout evaluations
2:45 PM: Evaluations begin
