Our Mission

The Large-Scale Machine Learning Systems Lab. studies critical problems in Machine Learning, Optimization, and High-Performance Computing. We currently pursue the following three research directions: 1) System-efficient large-scale neural network training strategies, 2) Federated Learning on heterogeneous systems, and 3) Applied Machine Learning for Physics.

[June 2026] Daniel Yun and Junhyuk's papers, "Weight Concentration Regularization for Improving Pruning Robustness Under High Sparsity" and "Ghosted Layers: Unconstrained Activation Alignment for Recovering Layer-Pruned LLMs", have been accepted to AdaptFM workshop held in conjunction with ICML 2026. Congratulations!
[June 2026] Junhyuk's paper, "Morphology-Embedded Signature of Lattice Strain in Ferroelectric BaTiO3 Thin Films Revelaed by Machine Learning," has been accepted to Small (IF: 12.1, JCR: 9.9%). Congratulations!
[April 2026] We were awarded a Fostering Leading Talents in Generative AI project (생성AI선도인재양성 사업). Our lab will participate in the project until 2029. Congratulations!
[January 2026] Several awards won by LMLS lab students! Jihyun received the President's Award for BK Excellent Graduate Students (BK 우수논문상 총장상 (1st)), Jisoo received the Outstanding Award (BK 우수논문상 우수상 (3rd)), Seungjun received Excellence Award (학부논문부문 우수상) in Korean Software Congress 2025.
