Our early education program offers the following activities among others:
(Choices of items may vary daily, weekly, or monthly)
Free Play: Block building (various materials and sizes), dramatic play, puzzles, drawing and coloring materials, books to look at or read with a teacher, math and literacy manipulatives, discovery items, PlayDoh or play foam, sand, dress up clothing, stuffed animals and dolls.
Arts and Crafts: We offer a variety of techniques and materials for our students. Small groups of students work with a staff member to explore different kinds of art processes. Occasionally, our projects will relate directly to the unit of study. At other times the projects will be just for the joy of using art materials.
Large group activities: Music, movement, games, stories, finger plays, nursery rhymes, math and literacy readiness skills, and science experiments.
Gross motor activities: Balls, hoops, bean bags, obstacle courses, parachute, dancing, ribbons, scarves.
Fine motor activities: Scissors, lacing, crayons, markers, paint brushes of different sizes and types, paint rollers, stickers, tongs, paper folding, crumbling, and tearing, rhythm band instruments.
Snack Time: The children enjoy a snack together at the snack table. We start our snack time with an age appropriate grace. Our LLNS families donate snacks on a rotating basis. Notification will be sent home and posted if there are any food allergies present.
Library Time: Our Thursday students begin going to library time in November. They are encouraged to choose one book each week until after the Christmas holiday when they will take home two books each week. Books are to be returned the next Thursday before choosing new books.
Newsletter and Updates: A monthly newsletter is sent home which includes more information about the activities we plan to do with our children. Occasionally, updates will be sent home during the week as a reminder of upcoming activities or to provide new information.
