Bio

Liz attended Purchase College, majoring in Visual Arts/Painting, and received her B.F.A. in 1981. Liz attended graduate school at Buffalo State College, where she received her M.S. in Student Personnel Administration in 1991.

Following graduation Liz began a 15-year career in non-profit administration, working in colleges and universities, non-profits, and as an independent arts consultant. Executive Director of WYBC (Yale University), Managing Director of Company One Theater, Hartford, CT, and as Art Consultant in the Inner City Cultural Development Program (ICCD), a program of the CT Commission on the Arts have been some of the positions she has held.

Liz found unique opportunities to bring her art to the community. Her many murals in college found their natural evolution in the installation art and set design which she did in the early '90s, designing sets for theater and dance productions including Performing Ensemble and the Pedro Alejandro Dance Ensemble as well as numerous community theater productions. She completed several installations in New Haven, most notably The Garden at Broadway at York Square; Red, Yellow, Blue, a wrap-around mural at Chapel Square Mall; and Grand Avenue Bridge, an intergenerational sculpture project for the International Festival of Arts and Ideas.

Liz founded her own label of hand printed fabrics and apparel, Liz Unleashed, which she operated for 10 years. Through Liz Unleashed she created many one-of-a-kind objects d'art as well as wearable art.

Her 14 year tenure as Art Teacher at Westbrook Middle School included the development of a sequential skill-based arts curriculum, a successful Drama Club program, and schoolwide projects such as Empty Bowls, Pinwheels for Peace, intergenerational community-based projects and many murals. She was recognized by the Connecticut Art Educators Association as Mentor/Teacher of the Year in 2010. She retired from public school teaching in 2018.

Liz has exhibited and won awards throughout the region in solo, group, and juried shows. She is an Elected Member of Clinton Art Society, Madison Art Society, Guilford Art League, , and CT Woman Artists and is an Associate Member of Lyme Art Association and Essex Art Association.

She is married and lives along the Connecticut Shoreline.
