Hello there~!
I'm a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley in the mathematics department and critical theory program. I work in the intersection of descriptive set theory and metric geometry; critical pedagogy theory; and more recently feminist technoscience. My doctoral advisors are Andrew Marks and Ian Agol.
I'm an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and UC Berkeley Chancellor's Fellow, and I served as my department's Equity & Inclusion Coordinator through Spring 2025.
Here is my CV.
Recent & Current Work
Mathematics Research: I'm currently working in large-scale geometry, particularly in asymptotic dimension theory and its relation to Borel equivalence relations.
Other recent endeavors include a venture into symbolic dynamics, mentored by Cesar Silva, and answering a long-standing problem in discrete geometry, with P. Hollander and C. Edgar, and mentored by Colin Adams. Other recent projects include classifying families of non-uniform star polyhedra and constructing a new pedagogical approach to singular cohomology.
Links to my publications can be found under Mathematics Research.
Critical Theory Research: My current undertaking is in the realm of feminist technoscience studies, in particular the wielding of agency to produce countercultural spaces in the interstices of techno-capitalism. My most recent submission is an essay on decolonizing pedagogy and epistemology, unavailable online while under review, though other of my work can be viewed at the Critical Theory Work tab.
Teaching & Mentoring: For Spring 2025, I worked as a math tutor at Mt. Tamalpais College. I also serve as a mentor through the MPS Scholars Program and have advised several independent study projects through the directed reading program. Last summer, I served as a graduate mentor for the Polymath Jr. REU, working with Drs. Lauren Rose and Timothy Goldberg on their project in finite geometry.
This fall I'm teaching MATH 50A at Mt. Tamalpais College. Summer 2026 I'll be teaching MATH 99 at Mt. Tam, and Fall 2026 an elective course on set theory and the history of mathematics.
Seminars & Workshops: During the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters, I co-organized the Critical Inquiries in Mathematics seminar at Berkeley. Seminar information for Spring 2024 can be found at this link; for Fall 2024, see this link. I also co-organized at Berkeley––with Dr. Catherine Cannizzo, Dr. Abbe Herzig, Emily Moore, and Dr. Aris Winger––a series of workshops on mathematics pedagogy and mentorship; you can find more information about the workshop here.
Office Hours: Fridays 3–6pm (use this link to book a meeting), or email me to set something up if that doesn't work.
Outside of academics(!)––
You're most likely to catch me running (possibly up a mountain), reading philosophy, or talking about my dog (or sometimes too loudly about Hegelian dialectics).
(Yet here is a rare occurrence of me doing none of the above...!)
