《西摩利 × 卡司帖拉 × 香蕉船》是李文皓於 2024 年夏季於高雄橋仔頭糖廠的白屋藝術村駐村發表作品。
高雄橋仔頭糖廠為臺灣第一座現代化糖廠,由日本殖民政府建於二十世紀初期。於本次駐村中,藝術家提問「糖都去哪裡了?」在這兩個月的高雄駐村中,藝術家探索了分布於高雄市的老餅店、烘焙坊與咖啡廳,並且藉由品嚐、食材分析與店家訪談來重建高雄歷經殖民、戰後的甜食記憶。
港都高雄吸引了不同的族群與文化,高雄的甜食地圖可以窺見來自清領時期的中國華南文化、日本殖民而帶來的和洋飲食,以及戰後因美援與美軍而帶動的美式文化。
於《西摩利 × 卡司帖拉 × 香蕉船》當中,李文皓借用了三個仍然多見於高雄的經典甜食為主題,重溯了高雄市經歷不同世代、不同族群共同形塑的城市記憶。結合了圖像、食物、文字、行為與歌唱,李文皓探索關於高雄的複雜性。
Shimori × Castella × Banana Split is a presentation created during his residency in K.A.T Sugar Refinery Artist Residency program 2024.
The K.A.T sugar refinery is the first modern sugar refinery in Taiwan built by Japanese in the 1900s when colonized by Japan. In the program, the artist posed a question “Where has the sugar gone? ”. In the two-month residency in the city of Kaohsiung, LI has explored the old and traditional bakeries in the city. He tastes, analyses, interviews the traditional desserts made by the old bakeries and cafes.
Kaohsiung, as a harbor city that attracted different cultures and people, the sweet taste map of Kaohsiung features cultures such as Southern China in the Qing Dynasty, Japan in the colonization era and America after WWII.
In Shimori × Castella × Banana Split (2024), the artist uses three traditional desserts still popular in Kaohsiung as the topic to tell the history and people in different generations from different countries that have been in Kaohsiung. Combining image, foods, text, performance and singing, the artist explores the complicated dimension of the city.
