"Thousands of CTA members are carrying student loan debt, and navigating the path to forgiveness can feel overwhelming. This session focuses on the two primary federal forgiveness programs available to educators—Teacher Loan Forgiveness (TLF) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)—and helps members determine which option best fits their financial situation.
Participants will receive up to date information on current policies, learn how to stay on track with qualifying payments, and understand the documentation required for each program. The session also introduces the NEA Student Debt Navigator powered by Savi, a tool that analyzes your student loans, identifies the most advantageous repayment and forgiveness routes, and helps streamline the application process.
