CEO urges BKCF to move online, or take precautions during in-person event

Just today, CEO David Xiong penned a electronic letter urging Liza Halley, director of BKCF, to move the event online or take strict precautions should the event be in-person. He writes, "I am emailing to urge you to move the comic festival online in 2020. It just doesn't seem feasible to hold a festival in September. Although this is hard to accept, I think it is possible to run a virtual Comic Fest. Second, even if you open an in-person BCKF, we will attend if and only if you have safety precautions such as crowd control, maximizing social distancing, hand sanitizers, and masks."

Little Sketch Remains Hopeful of BKCF

Although Little Sketch Inc. still has not heard back from BKCF about their postponed September festival plans, we remain hopeful that it will be held. Per NPR local station WBUR, Massachusetts will begin phase three reopening soon! We hope that eventually we will be able to adopt a mixture of in-person work and remote working.

BCKF Responds to CEO's email

"So nice to hear from you. The coordinators are talking about doing something online. I am not sure of what the plan is right now, but for sure, no event will be in person in 2020 and I am not sure what 2021 will look like," BKCF writes. BKCF also asks if Little Sketch Inc. would like to take part in organizing the virtual event.

President Varun Nerella on CEO David Xiong's email: "What David wrote certainly was effective, and I totally agree with a virtual show. It would be wonderful to help organize BKCF, but we are still considering that. David's opinion statement was very important - the BKCF can't continue in person, but as I said, a virtual show would be great. I think BKCF are doing very well to try and organize this event virtually."

Varun Nerella, President writes to BKCF

"I am glad to hear that the comic festival may continue (though virtually)! My friend and I have been transitioning to online comics, and we recently started selling! We have been to one of the comic festivals before, and we sold a comic called Robot World, and we have completed the trilogy for that series, and hope to make many more comic books! I was wondering how the virtual comic festival is going to work, and would the comic festival work the same way as the time David and I went? Lastly, thank you for doing your best to make this comic festival happen, and David and I would definitely want to take part!" he writes.
