Hi, I’m Sarah Nelson, MOT, OTR/L, and I’m the owner and occupational therapist behind Little Roots Occupational Therapy, PLLC. I started Little Roots because I wanted to provide high-quality, family-centered OT services that are both convenient and accessible. I believe children grow best when they’re free to explore, and play is the most powerful way for them to learn and develop. Through occupational therapy, I use evidence-based, play-focused approaches to help children build strong roots and achieve their goals.
I’m originally from Houston, Texas, and have called the Raleigh area home since 2020. While earning my Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, I discovered my passion for providing holistic therapy in a natural-environment. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working primarily in early intervention, with a focus on supporting children with autism and ADHD. I’m licensed by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy, CPR certified, and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. With 5 years of experience, my goal has always been to support children and families in ways that feel practical, playful, and meaningful.
With a minor in studio art from UNCWS, creativity is a big part of who I am and it shines through in my therapy sessions. Outside of work, I enjoy embroidery, painting, reading, caring for my plants, and spending time outdoors. I love being with my husband, family, and friends, and I try to sneak away to the beach whenever I can. This past year, my husband and I celebrated our first anniversary with a camping trip in Shenandoah National Park!
