My mission is to provide a learning environment that is of exceeding quality, promoting a learning journey that empowers children’s development through a flourishing home-based setting.
I believe that children benefit from individual learning programs tailored to their individual needs. This is achieved through small group learning, a quality learning environment and key educator relationships.
I believe that relationships with children and families is vital to support, engage and enhance children’s development. Secure relationships are attained through a circle of security, beginning with a secure base, supporting exploration, being available, approachable and present and having a safe haven to return to (the secure base).
I believe that my relationships with children enriches and deepens my ability to guide and support the children’s development.
I value the learning environment as a third teacher, first being the family, second the Educator. The learning spaces at Little Blossoms Virginia are strongly influenced by nature, designed and developed by myself as an educator, continually growing and developing with the support and input from families.
I aim to provide a home-based early learning service that is reflective of the individual family’s needs, supporting a flexible work /life balance whilst catering to the needs of the children. My environment is enriched with the presence of nature and value of sustainable practices.
I yield inspiration as an Early childhood Educator from theorists such as Reggio Emilia, integrating a play-based learning approach into my educational program. I value and assimilate Vygotsky’s theory that emphasises the importance of relationships between children and educators. Vygotsky was also an advocate for the environment as a key factor in early childhood growth and progression.
I have been working in the childcare industry since graduating high school in 2011. My interest in caring for children began at a very young age. I have worked in a variety of roles beginning as a babysitter in highschool through to key educator, health support worker, special needs support, team leader and assistant manager of a large long daycare centre. I have worked in an integrated department preschool and community service site and a privately owned for profit company, I have also run local playgroups and been involved in Playford communities for children programs and Playgroup SA.
I am passionate about providing high quality care alongside individually tailored learning programs, aiming to create the ultimate learning environment out of a nurturing and loving home setting for children from birth to 5 years of age.
I am also a mother to two beautiful children and pride myself on being an active participant in the local community and volunteer at local sporting clubs.
My Knowledge of early childhood expands from my diploma in early childhood education and advanced diploma in community sector management, years of child, infant and youth safety training and experience as a foster carer. I strive to continue my learning journey, adding to my knowledge at every opportunity.
