Activities

Our daily routines at Little Explorers are shaped by the ages and interests of the children who come to our setting. Activities for under fives are planned on a weekly basis following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage framework) and are specific to the child's stage of development. Children who attend after school also access a range of fun activities and I work with the children to find out their interests and provide activities they enjoy.

Here are just a few of our play-based activities and experiences:

  • Crafts
  • Construction
  • Outdoor play
  • Heuristic Play
  • Role play
  • Small world play
  • Mark making
  • Reading
  • Baking
  • Stories and rhyme times
  • Visits to the library, park, playgroups and play centres
  • Visits further afield to places of interest such as museums and farms.

We like to get out and about an often meet up with other childminders which gives the children an extra opportunity to meet other children and gain new experiences.

Here at Little Explorers we also have a large, secure garden which is played in as much as possible! Outdoor play is an integral part of our daily routine and we go out in all weathers.

Activities outside involve playing all sorts of games in our playhouse, sand and water play, messy play and messy crafts, ball games and growing our own plants.
