Research from the Science of Reading shows that strong readers do more than sound out words—they understand stories deeply. In this picture book, The Backyard Bandit, I support adults by offering before, during, and after reading activities designed to help children build that deeper comprehension. Readers will meet, Lily, a golden retriever determined to get her beloved Blue Bear back from the mysterious Bandit who stole it. Who is the Bandit? How did she capture Blue Bear? Readers will follow along with Lily, uncovering a trail of clues, all the way to a surprising twist at the end!

Curriculum Development
As a curriculum developer, I was tasked by Northville Public Schools to create and upload Curriculum and Curriculum Resources into their Learning Management System, Schoology. For example, I created and uploaded all UFLI lessons for grades Kindergarten - Second Grade and provided QR Codes for each UFLI lesson allowing students to access games aligned to each phonemic awareness/phonics skill taught. Each lesson is aligned to State Standards; contains a Learning Target and Success Criteria; and lesson resources, assessments, online games, videos, etc. in order to engage student and promote learning. Many teachers benefit from this bank of high quality lessons, including new teachers who have never taught your District's curriculum to veteran teachers who are learning a newly adopted curriculum resource, or would just like to explore a new way of teaching a given lesson. The following video illustrates the curriculum development work I produced for NPS.
