Pax Saint Benedict (inside)

Saint Benedict, while wrapt in deep contemplation, received various graces from God among which are the following five promises.

PROMISES

  1. His Order shall continue to exist to the end of the World.

  2. His Order at the time of the greatest tribulation - the end of the world - shall strengthen the faith of the chosen ones.

  3. No one shall die in the Order whose salvation would not be assured. And if a monk begins to lead a bad life and does not amend, he will fall into disgrace, or be expelled from the Order, or will leave of his own accord.

  4. Everyone who persecutes his Order and does not repent will see his day shortened and meet with an unfortunate end.

  5. All who will love the Order and will protect it, will obtain a happy death.

The above is according to the account of Cornelius a Lapide (chap. 35Jerem); of Benedict Illäftenus (in vita 5Bened. c.36) and Arnold Wion (Ligno vitae, Romae edit. 1595.)
