01X-09X: Number and Code Fields

This is the unique number assigned to the MARC record by the Library of Congress.  This number would also be used in field 001 as the record's control number (if LCCN is being used).  This numer can sometimes be found on the copyright page.  Do not use punctuation.

A 13-digit number used as a book identifier.   This is a unique number assigned to all books.  Each variation (edition, format) of a book will have a unique ISBN.  It is most commonly found either printed on the back cover of the book along with a barcode and/or on the copyright page.  This number should be entered with no dashes or spaces.

Common Subfields: $a: The ISBN of the item

$q: Qualifying information about the item
