History

Nyabinghi emerged around the late 18th to the early 19th century it was named after Queen Nyabinghi who ruled Uganda in the 19th century who helped reduced the influences of colonists. "The name Nyabinghi is believed to mean 'Death to all Oppressors'."   In the 1950's it emerged among Rastafarians and evolved into different subgenres throughout time.
