Thank you for joining us for the Linguistics for Justice Conference!
This event is being held as a part of the larger LSA Summer Institute being hosted by the University of Oregon from July 7 - August 8.
The event has been made possible through a grant from the National Science Foundation, and with support by the Wilson Center for Science and Justice at Duke Law and the University of Chicago Linguistics Department.
We are so glad you are attending! This page collects some logistics, and in particular administrative and logistical information for our invited participants.
The hotel (and university) are just east of downtown Eugene. There are lots of places to eat and drink nearby. The LSA Summer Institute has a page about local restaurants.
Invited participants will be staying at:
1759 Franklin Blvd Eugene, OR 97403
(You should already have a reservation; please contact Tyler if you have any questions about this.)
The Hayward Inn is a 1/2 mile walk to the conference venue. (Walking directions)
The Hayward Inn is about a 25 minute drive from the Eugene airport. We recommend taking a ride sharing service or scheduling a pick up with Oregon Taxi to get to and from the hotel and airport.
Please note we are unable to reimburse our invited participants for meals or other food costs.
We will be serving light breakfast each morning during the conference and boxed lunches will be available during the lunch sessions. The food should provide options for gluten free, dairy free, and vegan eaters. There are restaurants and other food options nearby (see the Institute's restaurant guide).
On Saturday evening, the conference will be hosting a happy hour at Agate Alley, a short walk from campus. Please plan to join us! Walking directions from the conference site are here.
Other meals are on your own, but we hope the days' events will inspire you to eat with new friends and colleagues.
You can email receipts for eligible travel expenses to Tyler (tyler.kendall@law.duke.edu) or you are welcome to upload images of your receipts to this Box folder.
We will not be able to process your reimbursement until after the conference, but you are welcome to send along or upload receipts sooner if that is convenient for you.
We will also need your mailing address to send the check. The reimbursement process typically takes ~6-8 weeks. Please note that we really need itemized receipts or we will not be able to reimburse you!
Unless we have made other arrangements with you, please know that your hotel will be paid for. (They may ask you for a credit card for a security deposit, etc., but you should not be charged for your room.)
