Behaviour Management Policy

Aims

The full policy is available for viewing on request. In essence, behaviour and conduct at LCFC evolves around respect and we wish to promote this through the application of our Three R’s

1.   Respect for each other

2.   Respect for ourselves

3.   Respect for the environment around us (the facilities and equipment we use)

Promoting Positive Behaviour - Rewards

Staff will endeavour to praise pupils whenever possible. Emphasis is on rewards to reinforce positive behaviour. We believe that rewards have a motivational role, helping children to see that good behaviour is valued. The most common reward is praise, informal and formal, public, and private, to individuals and groups.

Sanctions

Staff will always endeavour to resolve inappropriate behaviour though discussion, with both participants and if necessary, parents. On a session to session basis, staff will invoke the “sin bin” (time out) method, to ensure that inappropriate behaviour does not disrupt the learning and enjoyment of others. The impementation of time out periods will be accomanied with a discussion to ensure that the participant recognises the nature of the behaviour and its negative impact on others.

LCFC will operate the following as a scale of sanctions.

·       Step 1: Verbal warning.

·       Step 2: Second warning.

·       Step 3: Yellow card (Time out)

·       Step 4: Repeated yellow card.

·       Step 5: Red card (dismissal from session, accompanied with a phone call to parents to collect participant).

LCFC will not tolerate abuse

In any instance, behaviour that involves any kind of abuse on the basis of race, gender, religion, ability or ethnicity, will resilut in an immediate red card and a request for the parent of the individual to collect the participant from the session.
